Tyrone Jackson ( Music Director, Conductor/Player) is quickly becoming synonymous with the quintessential jazz piano player. His songs are played with much acclaim to worldwide audiences on local and satellite radio. Jackson has written and arranged countless works for a litany of artists and performers. As a composer, he has released three CDs of original works: Dedicated, Another Voyage and Melody in Nede: Suite for Jazz Quartet. He is also a lecturer and clinician with the Rialto for Youth Jazz Ensemble. Jackson is a professor of music at Kennesaw State University where he teaches applied jazz piano, group piano (jazz), jazz improvisation II & III, and the blues. He has performed with Earl Klugh, Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Jennifer Holliday and Marcus Miller, to name a few. Born in New Orleans’ cradle of jazz, Jackson embodies the spirit of the Crescent City but has made his home in Atlanta. His creativity coupled with subtle accompaniments, has him poised for national recognition. Recent projects include Operation Smile’s 35th Anniversary Gala, New York City Wine and Food Festival, and the Tony Awards Gala. Lex is the Principal at LDC Design Associates, a NYC-based company specializing in the design and production of bespoke creative events and interiors. He’s designed over 50 NYC/Off- Broadway productions, including most recently Antigone for Classical Theatre of Harlem. Regionally, Lex has also worked at Asolo Rep, Cincinnati Playhouse, Cleveland Playhouse, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Callas Theatre Center, Denver Center, La Jolla Playhouse, Long Wharf Theatre, Portland Stage, Portland Center Stage, Paper Mill Playhouse, and Woolly’s Mammoth, among others. Other Alliance credits include Troubadour, Disgraced, Blues for an Alabama Sky, The Tall Girls, In Love and Warcraft, What I Learned in Paris, and Into The Woods. He is thrilled to be back at The Alliance, having recently designed Candide. Work includes design for theatre/live performance and special events.
